Why do I need to verify my ID? | Dott Help Centre

In some cities, you’ll need a valid ID, passport, or driver’s license to ride a Dott. Per the city’s request, we check this for insurance purposes and to ensure you’re old enough to ride.

If necessary, we’ll ask you to scan your ID with our trusted third-party vendor before you start a ride. Alternatively, you can verify your ID through this link (open in-app). The process only takes a minute or two, then you’re ready to go!

ID wasn’t accepted? Make sure that

• You’re 18 years old
• Your Dott account information must match your legal ID
• Your ID is valid. Below are the accepted documents and the countries where ID verification is currently required.
  • 🇬🇧 UK: Driver’s license required.
  • 🇫🇷 France: (Paris - optional, Lyon): National ID, Driver’s license, Passport, Residence permit
  • 🇮🇹 Italy (Turin, Milan, Monza, Varese, Verona, Jesolo, Rome, Arezzo, Modena): National ID, Driver’s license, Passport, Residence permit
  • 🇮🇱 Israel(Tel Aviv),
    • for Israeli-issued documents: a National ID is accepted if you hold a valid theory test certificate or a Driver's License is required.
    • For foreign-issued documents: Passport required.
  • 🇧🇪 Belgium:(Brussels) National ID, Driver’s license, Passport, Residence permit
• Ensure you select the correct Issuing county & ID type of the document you wish to upload
• You’re scanning the original document – photocopies aren’t accepted
• You scanned the back of your ID if required
• If a selfie is required, you position yourself in the center of the camera and then move your face left and right to show both sides
• There’s no glare or bright light causing reflections
• All four edges of your ID are visible within the image
• All information on the ID is clear and legible – no details are blurred or covered
